Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) proudly announced the availability of its first mobile hard drive having a capacity of 500GB on one plate, spindle speed of 7200rpm, even only 7mm thick. Known as the Hitachi Travelstar Z7K500, this hard drive is specially designed to used in your notebooks and also ultrabooks.
Just information, Hitachi Travelstar Z7K500 drive is dubbed as the fastest HDD in the class. Compared to other competing products, this new device is able to deliver a performance boost of up to 33 %. Additionally, this new 2.5-inch hard drive has SATA 3.0 (6Gbps), 32MB of buffer memory, 1.8W of power consumption (0.8W in idle mode).
Measuring at 100 x 70 x 7 mm and weighs in at 95 grms, mass production of the Hitachi TravelStar Z7K500 is scheduled next month and might be available in 500GB, 320GB and also 250GB capacities.
